Qavali Restaurant & Cocktail Bar
If you’re wandering down Birmingham’s vibrant Broad Street and suddenly catch a whiff of aromatic saffron, sizzling charcoal, and fresh Persian herbs, chances are you’ve just walked past Qavali Restaurant & Cocktail Bar. This place isn’t just a restaurant-it’s an invitation into a sensory world of Indo-Persian elegance. Tucked right in the heart of Brindley Place at 60 Broad St, Qavali offers a seamless blend of fine dining and luxurious ambiance that has quickly made it a standout destination for food lovers and cocktail connoisseurs alike.
From the moment you step through the doors, it’s hard not to get swept up by the rich atmosphere. The interiors are moody and dramatic, with deep velvet hues, intricate lanterns, and plush seating that whisper tales of ancient Persia and the Indian subcontinent. But make no mistake-this place is more than just a pretty face. The service is warm, and the staff are well-versed in guiding you through a menu that’s as expansive as it is exciting.
Let’s talk food, because that’s really where Qavali earns its spotlight. You’ll want to start with the Baluchi Charcoal Chicken-a smoky, succulent starter that instantly sets the tone. The Chaat brings a punchy mix of tang and crunch, perfect for those who crave texture. For mains, the Persian Lamb Shank is melt-in-your-mouth tender, steeped in spices that slowly build flavor with every bite. And if you're here for comfort food with flair, don’t skip the Chicken Biryani, a generously spiced masterpiece layered with fragrant rice and served with a side of nostalgia.
Vegetarian? No problem. The Falafel and Garlic Naan combo works wonders, especially when dipped into one of their creamy house-made sauces. And seafood lovers, the Saffron Sea Bass is a total showstopper-light, buttery, and aromatic without being overpowering.
But what’s a meal without a drink in hand? The cocktail menu is where Qavali plays in the big leagues. Whether it’s a classic Daiquiri, a sweet and fragrant Paradise Garden Mocktail, or a Persian twist on familiar favorites, each glass is a mini work of art. Their tea selection, especially the Persian Tea, deserves just as much attention. It's aromatic, slightly floral, and works perfectly after a hearty meal-or with Baklava if you’re winding down the night.
Speaking of desserts, they’re indulgent in the best way. The Turkish Delight Ice Cream is playful and nostalgic, while the Brownie arrives warm, gooey, and dangerously moreish. But if you're the kind to linger over an Afternoon Tea, Qavali has elevated that tradition too-pairing bites with lush flavors that reflect their East-meets-West vibe.
What really stands out about Qavali Restaurant & Cocktail Bar is its versatility. It works equally well for an intimate date night, a group dinner, or even a solo culinary escape. The atmosphere strikes a perfect balance between refined and relaxed, and the halal-friendly, vegetarian-conscious menu ensures that almost everyone can find something to enjoy.
In terms of accessibility, Qavali is also inclusive-it features a wheelchair-accessible entrance, seating, and toilet, which isn’t something every high-end venue can say. Their service model includes dine-in and takeaway, catering to both those who want the full experience and those just looking to take some culinary luxury home.
This is the kind of place where you sip on a Ginger Beer, hear the quiet clink of cutlery in the background, and think-this is exactly what a modern fusion restaurant should feel like. Stylish without being stuffy, flavorful without being overwhelming, and consistently confident in what it offers.

During our weekend in Birmingham, we dined at the stylish Indo-Persian restaurant Qavali in Brindley Place. The whole experience felt more like a show than a typical meal, with belly dancers weaving between tables. I started with the Sultani Chaat - cumin-spiced Kabuli chickpeas, wheat crisps and lentil dumplings, topped with dates, tamarind chutney, mint and rose-scented yoghurt, and pomegranate kadayif. For the main, I chose the Indo-Persian Koobideh - a beautifully aromatic dish of lamb mince marinated with onion, nutmeg, peppercorn and rose petals, then infused with saffron, floral notes and fresh lime. A real standout!
WOW! My first time at Qavali, a beautiful, aesthetic restaurant serving authentic, delicious food with excellent service. I cannot express how good the service was! Most waiters need to be flagged down and are too busy doing something else to give you time, but the staff at Qavali will check up on you periodically. Delicious, hot and fresh food and beautifully presented. A hearty menu with options for everyone including vegan and tasting menus if you can’t decide. A celebration of the Mughal cuisine. Lots of drinks, wine, cocktails and non-alcoholic options. All food is halal! I highly recommend the lamb biryani, and the falooda dessert was so nostalgic! Comfy tall booths for privacy. There is a shisha and cigar garden outside but I didn’t visit. I will definitely be coming to Qavali again.
We were recommended to visit this location by our hotel concierge and we couldn’t have been more happy with our visit. The food was amazing. The atmosphere was very inviting, and the service was exceptional. Ana treated us like royalty. I would definitely recommend and can’t wait to visit again.
Unique venue and attentive service, with decent food. The booths are comfy and create a nice atmosphere. We got 50% off food through First Table for arriving at 5pm, so good value overall.
We had a truly wonderful experience at Qavali in Birmingham while celebrating a very special occasion — my in-laws’ anniversary. From the moment we arrived, we were warmly welcomed and looked after by Atul, who went above and beyond to ensure everything was perfect. His attention to detail, warm hospitality, and professional manner really made the evening feel extra special. Atul made sure our celebration was smooth and memorable, checking in on us at just the right moments and making sure everyone was comfortable and happy. It’s rare to come across such genuine and thoughtful service — he truly elevated the whole experience for our family. The food was absolutely excellent — rich in flavour, beautifully presented, and served fresh and hot. Every dish we tried was delicious and full of authentic taste, clearly crafted with care and quality ingredients. Thank you, Atul, for helping make this anniversary celebration one to remember. We’ll definitely be coming back and recommending Qavali to others
